Official BCI AIBE Study Material for the All India Bar Exam

Way back in 2010, when the All India Bar Exam was kicked off by the Bar Council of India, all registered applicants were being sent printed copies of the official aibe study material, specifically designed for the AIBE.

How useful was the official BCI – AIBE study material?

Given that most students would be quite ‘rusty’ with some of the topics covered in the early semesters of their LLB course, this study material served as a quick refresher course.
Even if students did not have access to their old text books; this study material, along with the easily available full-length bare acts, was quite sufficient to pass the All India Bar Exam.
The inherent advantage of this material was that it was prepared by the same company which was conducting the AIBE for those years. So you could safely conclude that the pattern, syllabus and question complexity in the actual exam would be similar to the official prep material.

Is the official study material still being published or provided by BCI?

After 2012, when the contract with the first organizing company ended, there were some significant changes from the next editions of the exam.
The syllabus was modified, the pattern of the questions was changed and the most important change – BCI stopped providing official preparatory study material for the AIBE.
The thought may have been that the AIBE is anyway based on the LLB syllabus, so any candidate’s existing LLB books and notes would suffice to prepare for the All India Bar Exam as well.
While dropping the official prep study material may have made BCIs life easier, it made the exam taking candidate’s life a little difficult by requiring him or her to retain all the books and notes from all the years of LLB; or buy AIBE preparation material from external providers.
The material in different languages can be downloaded for free from the Bar Council website as per the links below.  Since BCI’s website is updated periodically and this material is now outdated, chances are that these documents will be deleted from the servers sometime in the future. So if you find the material useful, download a copy and save it on your hard disk.

Wait! There is more – There is a ‘Model Question’ paper also – with answers and explanations.

Yes. Along with the Preparatory Study material, BCI had also released a full-length model AIBE test paper with detailed explanations.
You can download the model question paper from here:
And the detailed answers, explanations from this link:
While the Model Question paper is referred to as ‘Paper 1‘, we could not find any ‘Paper 2‘. If you have any clue to the mystery of the missing ‘Paper 2’, be sure to post a message below or contact us!
Note : Always refer to the current year’s official advertisement at http://www.allindiabarexamination.com for the latest details.
